Looking towards 2026...
I completed my final Chemo treatment, celebrated Christmas with family, and now I look towards 2026. “What’s next….time to ‘cross the bridge.’”
While my chemo is complete, my treatment is NOT complete. With a small metastatic spot on my rib, I needed to decide how to go forward … .There have been many consultations, investigations, and a lot of prayers in this decision.
I have 3 choices… ranging from “do nothing” & hope for the best, to various degrees of radiation & therapies. Each comes with little guarantee and each is an equally reasonable choice. WTH?
I’ll save you the details. I decided on option 3 – which is the most comprehensive treatment and where I believe I’m being led to go.
Option 3 is a specialized treatment offered at UCSF Radiology, called “Hyperthermia”, which uses heat in conjunction with radiation. It enhances the effectiveness of radiation and is especially beneficial for recurrent cancers, and previously-radiated areas. (all Me!)
So, Jan 5, we “cross the bridge” and move our little household to SF for 5 weeks of daily treatment at UCSF. We have a lovely little place to stay in Bernal Hts – close to parks, and a plethora of markets, dining, coffee spots, etc.
JON, MAX & I are making an adventure out of it…New Year, new health, and new adventures!
What’s YOUR Adventure for 2026? Will you cross a bridge?
- HYPERTHERMIA is available at a select few medical centers across the US. We are fortunate to have one of the best available in our region! (blessed!)
- My recent PET scan following chemo, shows a reduction in the rib bone tumor…meaning, it is responding to treatment! (Now THAT’s a great Christmas Gift!!)
- Making this next treatment choice was a challenging decision. Ultimately, I went with my “gut instinct.” Someone said they believed that listening to their gut, was like a direct line to God. That little nudge is really God saying, “here you go, do this.”
- So, how do YOU make hard decisions?
NEXT STOP....Crossing the Bridge, to UCSF!
